Power of Pleasure: The Source
I had my own Netflix-and-binge era in late 2021. It didn’t revolve around drama series, but it did include some content that blew my mind. One standout? Sex, Love, and Goop. Now, before you roll your eyes and pass judgment at celebrity-endorsed self-care ventures, hear me out—this one is worth watching. If for no other reason than to introduce you to the brilliance of Michaela Boehm. You may become obsessed, we did.
In one of the early episodes, they dive into Erotic Blueprints, and as a long-time sucker for a good assessment (a love affair that started with Cosmo quizzes in the ‘90s), I was all in. Naturally, I took the test immediately. My results? “Sensual.” It explained so much—not just in the bedroom but in every aspect of my life. I’ve always been someone who loves a good theme, relishes in the details, and adores slooooowing down and savoring. I shared the series with Jess, and we were both completely lit up by the exploration of sensuality and how it resonated with us. Jess took the quiz too, and no surprise—she’s a “sexual” through and through. When Jess sees something she wants, she creates the path to get there. She’s the ultimate get-it-done girl. Truly, my dream partner. I still pinch myself and ooze with gratitude in co-creating with her.
We both devoured Michaela’s The Wild Woman’s Way, and Jess enrolled in her training (total ‘Sexual’ move). From there, our conversations turned to creating an event that would bring women together to explore their sensuality in a safe and supportive space without shame or guilt.
That’s when we discovered Julianne Vacarro, a practitioner of Erotic Blueprint. I remember vividly saying, “If we can collaborate with Julianne, we’ll kill it.” We reached out, and to our amazement, she said yes. Not only did she agree to collaborate with two women stepping into this arena for the first time, but she also agreed to do it for free.
Then, serendipity struck again. A woman and venue we had admired from afar, Molly and PachaHouse, agreed to host the event and support us with her truly masterful marketing skills. It felt surreal—like, who did we think we were?
On 2/22/2022, we hosted our first sold-out Power of Pleasure event, a by-donation gathering supporting Girls Inc. It was the first of many.
Since then, we’ve partnered with practitioners dedicated to supporting women in their journeys to heal, explore freely, and reclaim their birthright: pleasure. This event has become a pillar of Hey Birdie’s programming, and for good reason.
Pleasure is the portal—to freedom, joy, wonder, and awe.
This year, we’re taking another bold leap. We're honored to partner with Dr. Caite Gordon, an Intimacy Coach and Holistic Healer who is committed to empowering women to pursue their most audacious desires. Having experienced her Queen Mastermind program myself, I was blown away by her wisdom, patience, and transformative process. Her passion for her work is palpable and contagious.
This year’s annual signature event, The Source, is packing serious heat. Our goal? To deliver an experience that inspires, educates, and—most importantly—reminds you of your innate power to source your own pleasure. Of your ability to experience all the pleasure you desire in life.
We would be so honored to have you join us, to witness one another, and to grab the proverbial sword and join us in dismantling the stigma surrounding women and pleasure.
